Dominic studied at three Russell Group universities - Cambridge, Edinburgh and Durham - across five disciplines. This multidisciplinary background informs his approach to application strategy and bespoke career mapping, with a focus on pursuing academic passions while developing transferable skills.

Founding Russell Uni has been a defining part of his journey, enabling him to bring together his experience to support prospective university applicants and school staff globally.
Outside of his professional work, Dominic enjoys clay pigeon shooting, horse riding, and making the most of travel, café culture, and dining.

Dr Daniel Casey
University application strategist
Dan studied Geography at the University of Cambridge before completing a master’s in Environmental Change and International Development and a PhD at the University of Sheffield. He has taught at all levels, including university teaching, to achieve AFHEA status. He specialises in guiding international students find their best-fit university courses by producing highly tailored applications. Dan supports applicants through every stage of securing an offer and checks-in with students in person once they’re at university. He is a British Council Registered UK Counsellor.

Dr Clodomiro (Miro) Cafolla
University readiness builder
Miro completed his medical studies at the University of Rome Tor Vergata before pursuing an integrated master’s in Physics and a fully funded PhD at Durham University. With first-hand experience as an international student and researcher, he offers tailored 1:1 guidance and group sessions, supporting students develop and enhance academic skills and university readiness. Amongst many parts of the application process, Miro is an expert mock interviewer and offers an extra layer of support to ensure that students thrive once at university.

Dr Freddie O’Donald
Experienced Healthcare Practitioner
Freddie has over 10 years of experience working in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), alongside teaching and supporting students across applied psychology, human sciences, and health-related degree programmes. He has a background in dementia research and professional training in clinical psychology/rehabilitation medicine. Having studied at a range of universities, including Oxford and Edinburgh, he is able to guide applicants considering psychology and a plethora of vocational health courses. Freddie helps Russell Uni conduct relevant psychometric tests for all the applicants we support.

Dr Jem Pearson
Oxbridge scientist and support coach
Having studied at both the University of Oxford and University of Cambridge, over several decades, Jem has been able to offer superlative guidance in understanding the nuances of applications, selecting Oxbridge colleges and creating university course shortlists for master’s applications. Jem has worked as both a 1:1 subject tutor (Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and taught at UK boarding schools. Jem is very well placed to coach students in both a supportive and strategic manner.

Dr Elizabeth Mackintosh
Critical thinking expert
Elizabeth studied Theology and Philosophy (BA), followed by a master’s in Theology (MA) and a PhD in Philosophy at Durham University. A passionate advocate of philosophical enquiry, she delivers critical thinking workshops across the UK, helping students refine their reasoning and argumentation. On this programme, Elizabeth equips applicants with the analytical skills, academic confidence, and intellectual curiosity needed to secure places on and excel in competitive master’s courses.

Ms Francesca (Cesca) Berlen
English qualification professional
Cesca completed her studies in Early Childhood Education at Birmingham City University and has since shaped her profile helping individuals develop their English language ability – such as supporting with modules on English as a Foreign Language and also Academic English. Cesca has also worked as an examiner for Cambridge University Press & Assessment and is well versed in enabling students enhance their English proficiency, whether preparing for university entrance exams or readiness for academic studies at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
